Bedbugs - Preparing the apartment before intervention

05/01/2025

Bedbug extermination is a relatively demanding process and your cooperation is needed for its successful outcome.

A properly treated and prepared environment for the intervention will greatly facilitate the disinfestation process and increase its effectiveness.

Moreover, in unprepared or insufficiently prepared areas, it is usually not even possible to carry out the intervention!

Therefore, we would like to ask for your cooperation. The spray will reach even hard-to-reach places where bedbugs often hide and you will be able to live in the treated area again sooner.

An effective intervention will save both our time and your wallet.

What will we treat?

We will apply the spray mainly to beds, mattresses with covers, slats and storage spaces. Also to unfolded sofas including storage spaces.

To bedside tables, duvet covers, cabinets and around wardrobes and to walls behind beds and sofas including shelves and pelmets.

To floors, carpets, baseboards, paneling, around windows and doors.

We do not apply the spray to bed linen, clothes, books, electronics, etc.

Prepare the room for the intervention as follows:

Clear out storage spaces from beds and sofas (does not apply to wardrobes).

Remove bed linen, take off duvets, pillows, etc. (not mattress covers).

Remove items from around beds, sofas and bedside tables (lamps, toys, books)

Move beds, furniture and sofas about 10-20 cm away from the walls. They may also need to be turned over, ideally unfolded.

Thoroughly clean and dust the room. Sweep and mop the floor areas, including the area behind the bed.

Thoroughly cover computers, printers, all sensitive electronics, documents, etc.

Any terrariums, aquariums, etc. that cannot be moved must also be well covered - the products used are highly toxic to cold-blooded animals.

I recommend storing bed linen in plastic bags and tying them tightly. If possible, wash the contents of the bag with the bedding stored in this way at a minimum of 60 °C.

Remove the bed lining (unscrew the wooden ones, or tear off the carpets from the wall, remove posters, mirrors, shelves, etc.) and leave them in the room for treatment.

Place personal belongings in plastic bags, leave them tied on the table in the room - thoroughly empty the wardrobes, bedside table, work desk, bed storage space, shelves, drawers.

Intervention progress:

The insecticide we will apply does not smell, but it causes respiratory irritation, so people and animals must not be in the rooms during the intervention. You will have to stay in untreated areas, for example the kitchen.

During the intervention and for at least 2 hours after it is finished, you must ventilate the room.

After the intervention is completed:

You can return to the treated areas after thorough ventilation (about 2 hours).

Your pets and small children can only touch the surfaces after the applied substance has completely dried.

Do not vacuum or wipe the treated areas for the next three weeks (after this time, the spraying must be repeated).

For the next three weeks, clean the floor only "dry" (i.e. sweeping), do not vacuum upholstered furniture.

Cover the beds cleanly. Do not manipulate the furniture and do not bring in any new furniture for now.

Wipe only those surfaces that could come into contact with food with warm water and detergent.

Store the items treated after the first treatment at a sufficient distance from the infested bed or furniture.

Wash bed linen once a week (at a temperature of at least 60 °C);

DO NOT USE A STEAM CLEANER ON TREATED SURFACES – steam destroys the active ingredient !
